Renesas Electronics (TSE: 6723), a global semiconductor solution provider, today announced that it will cooperate with Altium, LLC, a global software manufacturer in San Diego, California, USA, to standardize the development of all printed circuit board (PCB) designs on Altium 365, a cloud platform.
Renesa currently uses multiple PCB design tools throughout the company, partly because different companies it has acquired in the past few years have brought their traditional software into the company. As Reza integrates components from different product groups as “successful product combinations” into system solutions, a unified PCB design tool will simplify circuit board design for demonstrating and evaluating these “successful product combinations” and all other product suites, thereby reducing design complexity, improving system cost structure, and accelerating product launch speed.
Renesa’s “Successful Product Portfolio” is an engineering validated solution that integrates embedded processing, simulation, power supply, and connectivity products, allowing customers to leverage this high-level platform to implement design concepts, shorten product development cycles, and reduce the overall risk of bringing designs to the market. Ruisa has launched over 400 “successful product combinations” to a wide range of customers and markets.
Altium 365 is an ideal cloud based PCB design platform. Through Altium 365, users can collaborate with design stakeholders and other participants while ensuring IP security and keeping designs under version control. Users can organize designs, libraries, and participants in one location while sharing design links for real-time collaboration. With the unique CAD intelligent functions, data can be stored and accessed online. Renesa will publish the ECAD library of all its products to Altium Public Vault. Through functions such as manufacturer component search on Altium 365, customers can directly select Renesa components from the Altium library to shorten product launch time.
Chris Allexandre, senior vice president of Renesas Electronics, CSMO and head of global sales and marketing headquarters, said: “Rexa is committed to Digital transformation and simplifying customer design processes. ECAD tool migration is an important step in our development process, and we look forward to establishing a lasting and in-depth strategic relationship with Altium.”
DK Singh, Vice President of Renesas Electronics Electronic Systems and Solutions Business Unit, said: “This migration is closely linked to Rexa’s solutions and digital strategy, which involves the fast access Internet of Things and other strategic initiatives. The coordination of this development workflow will enable internal global collaboration, and also make it easier for customers to integrate Rexa’s products and solutions into their systems.”
At the same time, Reza will continue to provide comprehensive support to customers using ECAD design platforms other than Altium, and provide ECAD libraries for other ECAD tools according to customer needs. Renesa is consolidating its partnership with Altium and taking various measures to strengthen the company’s broader and deeper market strategy. The unification of ECAD tools this time is the first step.
Marc Boonen, Chief Business Officer of Altium, said, “Ruisa is one of the true leaders in the semiconductor business field, with the industry’s broadest product range and globally distributed design institutions. We are proud that Ruisa has chosen Altium 365 as its preferred platform for PCB tools and look forward to working together to create high-quality comprehensive solutions faster and at lower costs than before
